Academy Awards Handbag Fashion
Every year, the biggest stars of Hollywood gather together to mingle and give out Academy Awards to the most respected peers in their field. But more important than the famous Oscar statues is the fashion that is displayed along the red carpet into the Kodak Theater. In this case, the dresses and accessories are the main attraction to be judged and critiqued by the media in the days that follow the ceremony. Since this blog is about handbags, I figured that I would take a look at the handbag fashion seen at the Academy Awards this year.
Natalie Portman – The Best Actress Winner (for Black Swan) also had a major victory with overall fashion. The very pregnant actress glowed in a purple gown and added to the panache of her style with a golden clutch from Roger Vivier bois de nuit. The contrast in textures and colors made for an excellent addition to the varied fashion of the night.
Helena Bonham Carter – Helena surprised a good number of fashion critics this year by wearing something appropriate to an awards show! Instead of her normal bizarro getups, Helena matched a Lulu Guiness – which is a black and white fan clutch – with a gorgeous Coleen Atwood gown. This is definitely a new start to better fashion for Helena in the fashion.
Mila Kunis – Oh my. Has this girl grown up since her days as Jackie on That 70s Show or what? Perhaps the overall fashion winner of the night, Mila accessorized against here lilac Elle Saab gown with a box clutch from Bottega Veneta. This type of handbag is usually worn in the daytime, due to its light look and design.
Although western style handbags were not a huge fashion staple of the red carpet, it is almost time to start bringing them out for the spring season. Make sure to find one that fit your style.
