To be honest with you, I’m pretty sure not many people know Katies Holmes for her acting anymore. If you know Miss Holmes, you probably know her better as Mrs. Cruise aka the wife of megastar Tom Cruise. The last time I recall her being in a decent movie was in Batman Begins – in the super successful sequel The Dark Knight, she was replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal. No matter about her career, Katie is a major player in the tabloids, shown out with Tom or their daughter Suri on an obsessive basis.
In her spare time, Katie has the same aspirations as many of her fellow celebrity cohorts, like best friend Victoria Beckham. Mrs. Cruise has her hand in with fashion brand Valextra, known for their designer handbags. Now, Katie is releasing the first of her many handbag designs with co-designer Jeanne Yang, according to a story from Fox Boston:
“Holmes and her longtime stylist founded their own line, Holmes & Yang, in 2009. It primarily features women’s wear but also has a collection for children, often seen worn by Holmes’ four-year-old daughter with actor Tom Cruise.
“We decided to follow the desires of Katie [Holmes] and Jeanne [Yang], who wanted to have their own bag realized by Valextra,” Valextra Chief Executive Officer Emanuele Carminati Molina said about the partnership.”
It seems that Katie is certainly a fan of the fashion line and is definitely looking to make some serious profit from the handbags:
“Their quality is exceptional. There’s such integrity in their work — they’re artists,” Holmes, 32, said about the Italian luxury handbag designer.
On Wednesday, Holmes unveiled her first calfskin purse created in collaboration with design partner, Jeanne Yang, and designers from the Italian luxury shop. The selected style will retail for $3,950 and will be sold exclusively at Barneys beginning in July.”
