Celebrity Handbag Addiction

There are many people who believe that there is no such thing as too many handbags. I have friends with fully stuffed closets, filled to the brim with designer western style handbags. Frankly, I see nothing wrong with having as many handbags as you want, as long as they are within your means. However, there is such a thing as handbag addiction and there are actually support groups to help people stop buying that new Prada clutch or Hermes bag. Funny enough, I found a few stories about celebrities that should probably be in one of these groups:

Britney Spears: Reportedly, the pop songstress is single-handedly keeping a few designer shops in business during this rough economy. According to Independent Woman, Spears is buying boatloads of bags:

“[Spears] revealed to UsMagazine.com that she prefers shopping online and in boutiques, to going out to big stores to purchase her favourite fashions pieces. ‘I’m addicted to shopping online,’ she revealed. ‘I love boutique shopping.’ The 29-year-old star has also admitted that her love of online buying has led to a vast collection of handbags and other items. Britney has revealed she has a habit of buying handbags and jackets more than anything else. ‘I have more than 50 purses in my closet and more than 50 jackets,’ she added.”

Christina Hendricks – The new fashion icon – who stars in AMC’s hit drama Mad Men – has admitted to having a large collection of lipsticks, but cannot go without obsessively scanning the internet for vintage handbags. According to DNA:

“‘I’m always shopping on ebay. I love handbags. At the moment I’m trying to find a vintage crocodile clutch. I have a ‘watching list’ on ebay,’ the Daily Express quoted her as saying. The 35-year-old has other addiction too. ‘I’ve got hundreds of lipsticks. Every colour of the rainbow!’ she said.”
