As I mentioned a few weeks ago, the awards season for 2012 has begun. So far, the Hollywood Foreign Press and the Screen Actors Guild have both given out awards to the best and brightest actors, actresses, movies and TV shows of the last year. However, just a few days ago, musicians were honored at the annual Grammy awards, which have almost nothing to do with movies. While it’s tough to argue about who is more stylish – actors or musicians – there was certainly some fun western style fashion to look at this year:
Hit: Adele – The big winner of the evening (scoring six out of six awards), singer/songwriter Adele was absolutely stunning on the Red Carpet. Her sleek black Giorgio Armani dress featured sparkles that added shimmer to Adele’s positively glowing face. Adding to the ensemble a brand new blonde hairstyle that harkened back to the 1940s and 50s without looking dated. All in all, Adele won all of the awards, including best style.
Hit: Julianne Hough – Ryan Seacrest’s long-term girlfriend, who recently starred in a remake of Footloose, made a demure and mature choice for this year’s Grammys. Instead of showing too much skin – like a number of other celebs – Ms. Hough chose a form-fitting Kaufman Frano with a black and neutral color palette. Some might say that her choice of hairstyle was a bit too average, but I think it definitely fits the look Julianne was aiming for.
Miss: Fergie – The only talented person from The Black Eyed Peas, singer Fergie, absolutely bombed in a bright orange dress that seemed to be made from a doily. Looking eerily similar to a runway model turned pumpkin, Fergie did manage to choose an appropriate clutch handbag from Judith Lieber, but it was definitely overshadowed by this hideous ensemble. If this is where haute couture is going in the future, we don’t stand a chance.
