Famous Handbag Line Moving Towards Fabric

The handbag industry is one of the most important parts of the fashion world, especially because fashion magazines and critics focus so much attention on the accessories that women wear. This is particularly true in the celebrity stratosphere, where every tiny detail of an outfit is publically scrutinized. Among the labels seen on clothes and handbags, one name usually stands above them all: Chanel. When it comes to haute couture, Chanel sets many standards in the western fashion world.

With its new fall / winter collection making its way to shelves all over the world, Chanel is changing things up a little bit. According to Examiner, Chanel’s new handbag collection is focused on the materials being used to make the bags, even if the premise and its designs are not brand new:

“Fabric handbags are not new for the iconic design house. Chanel features fabric handbags which match their garments frequently. Although the fabric handbag may not be a fresh design, the color palette and deep texture found on the haute couture handbags from Chanel for fall 2012 are new and show a move by Parisian designers towards a pastel color palette and textured products.”

What’s interesting about this shift in the designer’s approach is not so much about the fabric however, it is really about the trends it is pushing as we move through 2012.  Instead of the tangerine orange and loud colors that have been considered the “new black” of 2012, the article says that Chanel is moving towards more demure and muted pastels with this line:

“The overall fall/winter 2012/2013 haute couture collection by Chanel was soft, feminine, simple and understated. The quiet colors combined with sleek, classic silhouettes offered a timeless collection which many Chanel fans will find appealing.”

Expect this line to be hitting stores in late August / early September.
