The Fashion from Your Favorite Movies

Breakfast at Tiffany's FashionMovies and high fashion go together like peanut butter and jelly. Just consider a flick like The Hunger Games, which we discussed earlier this year in this blog. This blockbuster had the unenviable task of finding a way to bring the vibrant designs from the novel to the big screen. Luckily, the film’s costumer decided to work with designer fashion from Alexander McQueen. By delving into the world of haute couture, the general consensus was that The Hunger Games succeeded in its quest to accurately bring the book to life.

Much like awards shows – which feature the newest and most original high fashion – you can find great fashion ideas and trends just by looking at some of your favorite movies. Here are some of the best examples of fashion from the movies:

The Dark Knight Trilogy – As Batman, actor Christian Bale had to embody the Dark Knight as well as Bruce Wayne, the billionaire playboy behind the mask. As Bruce Wayne, Bale was dressed appropriately in Giorgio Armani, the famous designer. Armani actually created a specific line for Bruce Wayne, exclusive to the film.

Annie Hall – Woody Allen’s greatest film (arguably) featured a young, winning Diane Keaton wearing a felt hat, men’s tie, men’s vest and khakis incredibly well. This image shattered traditional gender stereotypes about fashion and instantaneously made Keaton a fashion icon.

The Muppets – It may seem silly, but Miss Piggy wore Chanel in the reunion of the classic Muppets gang late last year. As the fashion editor of Vogue, this choice was perfect.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Audrey Hepburn is fashion. When she peers inside Tiffany’s, her overall look is engrained in your head forever.

Wall Street – The suspenders. The slicked back hair. The shirt and tie. Michael Douglas was Wall Street.

Flashdance – The sweatshirt. You know what I’m talking about.
