The Brazilian Association of Leather Artifacts and Travel Articles Manufacturers (ABIACAV) has created a new brand to promote Brazilian leather goods internationally. All leather artifacts, in particular leather handbags and accessories, from the country will be labeled “Brazil by Bags.”
The new brand’s slogan is “Brazil by Bags: Welcome to a Brazil made of leather, colors, and inspiration.” Its goal is to synthesize the main characteristics of Brazilian leather goods and to give the products a national identity.
All companies that create leather bags under ABIACAV that represent Brazil at international trade fairs and events will use the “Brazil by Bags” trademark on their products.
ABIACAV signed a Sector Project with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX-Brazil), in September 2013. According to APEX-Brazil, the ABIACAV launched a collection of trade promotional bags under the “Brazil by Bags” label during the 41st International Footwear, Leather Goods, and Fashion Accessories Fair – Couromoda, which was held in Sao Paolo, Brazil in January.
ABIACAV wants to advance the Brazilian industry that includes leather handbags, accessories, and travel items. The goal in creating the new trademark is to increase the number of Brazilian leather goods sold internationally and the number of leather manufacturers in the country, and to reposition the image of Brazilian leather goods abroad by creating more value-added products. The group wants to change the image of Brazilian leather handbags, luggage, and other leather products in the eyes of consumers around the world.
