Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Rachel Feinstein, Jourdan Dunn, and Leandra Medine are teaming up with luxury handbag maker Fendi to create unique bags that will be auctioned off to benefit charities of their choice. The celebrities designed personalized versions of Fendi’s popular 3Baguette handbag and a micro-baguette.
The handbags will be introduced at a cocktail party on February 13 that will be hosted by Fendi’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld, accessories designer Silvia Venturini Fendi, and chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari. The party will be held to celebrate the opening of Fendi’s new flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York City. The handbags will be on display for at least a month at the store, as well as online.
People who are interested in purchasing the bags can submit bids online. The proceeds from the sale of each celebrity’s handbag will be donated to a charity of her choice. Parker’s handbag will support The Brain Trauma Foundation, and Feinstein’s will support the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Sales from Rihanna’s handbag will benefit The Clara Lionel Foundation, which she founded in 2012 to improve quality of life for people around the world in the areas of health, education, arts, and culture. Dunn’s handbag will support The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, and Medine’s bag will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
The 3Baguette handbag was released last year as an updated version of the classic and popular Baguette handbag. The strap can be adjusted from 6 to 12 inches, which enables the handbag to be worn as a clutch, shoulder bag, or handbag. It has a clasp with the brand’s logo that rotates, flips, and slides.
