Andrea Pisarcikova, a Slovak lawyer, has created a line of handbags called LADYBAGs that can provide warmth and also charge cell phones or tablets. She decided to make the handbags after she realized that she had a need for those features but could not find that type of handbag.
The handbags have two USB ports to charge cell phones or tablets. The handbag battery takes six to eight hours to charge a device and can hold a charge for up to three hours. The battery can charge up to three devices at a time.
Pisarcikova was inspired by her own medical needs to create the heating feature. She has poor blood flow and often feels cold. The bags can be heated to three temperatures by connecting a cable with a battery and pressing a button. The heating portion is located in a side pocket separated by a zipper. It can warm the hands or the small of the back, or it can be used as a seat on a cold day. The heating pad can work for almost three hours on maximum heat.
The handbags have adjustable and removable straps so that they can warm the hands while the wearer is walking or standing. The heating pad is on the outside of the bag, which allows the inside to stay cool.
The handbags are also large enough to hold all the necessities a woman might need. While she wanted to create bags that were functional, style was also important to Pisarcikova. The handbags are made of A-grade leather in four styles; a red attaché case, a black bag with an entwined leather surface, an emerald-green handbag with brushed leather, and a utilitarian blue bag.
An Indiegogo campaign has been created to raise funds for production, testing, certification, marketing, packaging, and logistics.
