If you have decided to purchase a new handbag, you know how pricey they can be. In order to protect your investment, it is important to take proper care of your handbag. Here are some tips.
Pens and makeup can stain the inside of a handbag and can be difficult or impossible to remove. Keep pens and makeup in plastic bags or inexpensive cosmetic bags.
If you spill something on the outside of your leather handbag, clean it up immediately. Leather is a porous material that can easily trap stains.
Don’t try to repair a jeweled handbag yourself. Using the wrong glue can leave a yellow residue. Check with the manufacturer to see if you can send it back to be repaired.
If you have a small clutch, line the interior with tissue paper to prevent lipstick or other things from getting on the liner. If your handbag came with felt liners, use them.
If your bag came with a box when you bought it, use the box for storage. If you don’t have enough space for the box, store the handbag in a storage bag or pillowcase to protect it from dust and other pollutants.
Try to avoid stacking purses on top of each other. If you must do so, stuff them with tissue paper to prevent dents and creases.
Buy a purse hanger so that you will never have a reason to set your handbag on the floor.
Use baby wipes to gently clean your handbag. Wipe around the hardware and over the leather to remove any dust or pollutants.
If your handbag has scuff marks, try wiping them with shoe polish.
Use glass cleaner to clean a patent leather handbag. Spray the cleaner onto a microfiber cloth, not directly onto your bag.
